ServicesThe revenue cycle

How VisMed runs payment posting.
Reviewed by the VisMed revenue cycle team
We post payments at the line, not the check, because that is the only level at which an underpayment can be seen. A payer that pays a claim at 85 percent of your contracted rate has still paid the claim, and a posting process that matches payment to claim and moves on will close it as done. We match payment to the expected allowed amount and flag the difference.
Every remittance is reconciled to the deposit, every contractual adjustment is checked against the fee schedule, and patient responsibility is calculated correctly so the statement that goes out is right the first time. Variances go to the AR team as underpayment appeals, not to the adjustment column.
You see the result in two numbers we report weekly: what was posted, and what was recovered from payments that would otherwise have been accepted short.

What a practice asks about this service on the first call.
How does VisMed catch underpayments?
VisMed loads your payer contracts and fee schedules, posts every line against the expected allowed amount, and flags any payment below it as a variance. Variances are appealed as underpayments rather than written off as contractual adjustments.
Does VisMed reconcile posting to bank deposits?
VisMed reconciles every electronic and paper remittance to the deposit it belongs to, so the practice’s books and the practice-management system agree without a month-end scramble.
Does VisMed handle patient statements?
VisMed posts patient responsibility accurately at the line, which is the step that makes statements right. Statements, card-on-file and payment plans then run through your system on the schedule you set.
