ServicesThe revenue cycle

How VisMed runs ar follow-up.
Reviewed by the VisMed revenue cycle team
We work AR by calling payers, because an electronic status tells you a claim is pending and a phone call tells you why. The oldest buckets are worked first, inside their filing and appeal windows, by people whose job is recovery rather than submission. That distinction matters: a biller under pressure to get today’s claims out will always defer last quarter’s.
We are reluctant to write anything off. Write-off is a recommendation we make with the evidence attached: the claim, the payer response, the window, and what was tried. A practice should never discover from its year-end numbers that AR quietly disappeared.
On most new accounts the aged AR is where the first recovered dollars come from, which is why we start on it in week one, before the new-claim workflow is even fully live.

How does VisMed prioritize aging AR?
VisMed works the oldest recoverable claims first, sorted by filing and appeal deadline and by dollar value, so the money most at risk of expiring is pursued before it does. Claims past their windows are reported with reasons rather than worked pointlessly.
Does VisMed call payers or rely on electronic status?
VisMed calls. Electronic status is checked daily, but pended and stalled claims get a phone call to the payer, because the reason a claim is stuck is rarely in the status code.
Will VisMed write off our old AR?
Only with your agreement and with evidence. VisMed recommends a write-off when a claim is genuinely unrecoverable and shows you the claim, the payer response and what was tried. Nothing is adjusted off quietly.
